Egg-tra Creative

Every year for Easter, we have a family tradition of dying Easter eggs.  Usually, we do this tradition at my sister's house with her family and my father and step mother.  This year was a little different because my sister and her family were away so, we took our eggs over to my Mom's house to carry on our tradition.

I bought a neon egg coloring kit and we added our own egg-tra creative ideas.  G.J. (a.k.a. Grandma Jan) suggested we wrap a rubber band around the egg.  First, you drop the egg in any color dye. Preferrably a light color.  Leave it in for 3-4 minutes, remove the egg and lay it on a stand to dry.  Once dry, wrap a rubber band around the egg 2-3 times, then drop the egg in another color of dye.  Let it sit in the dye for approximately 4-5 minutes or longer.  When you remove it, let the egg dry before removing the rubber band to get this look

Then, to make them sparkle, we added some glitter glue and rubbed it all over the egg to give it this look

An easy-peasey idea to give your Easter eggs a little bling or some added funkiness. (age appropriate for 4-8 years old.)

Lots of fun dying eggs...It brought back a lot of happy memories of Easters gone by! I'm surprised I even remembered that little tip!

They turned out great! I remember trying the rubber band idea a few years back and it didn't work for me!
