Mole or Vole?

Did you know there is a cute little critter very similar to a mouse called a Vole? A vole is a small rodent resembling a mouse but with a stouter body, a shorter, hairy tail, a slightly rounder head, smaller ears and eyes, and differently formed molars.  To be sure you have a Vole and not a mouse, use a magnifying glass, especially when you're examining his molars.

Another varmint commonly mistaken for a Vole is the Mole.  Mole's are carnivorous and eat worms, grubs, and insects.  Voles on the other hand are herbivores and will gnaw at the base of a tree or shrub especially in the winter.

What do you think this little guy is?  Mole or Vole?
