Diary Farm Tour

The other day the girls, Pop O., and I headed out to Perrydell Farm located in York, PA. on what was supposed to be a short jaunt but turned out to be an hour long drive. My first mistake was getting directions from Mapquest and my second mistake was deviating from my directions. Oh well, you live and you learn.

The farm has been operating for three generations where they pride themselves on producing milk with freshness that does make a difference in the taste. To guarantee the freshness, they do not inject their cows with hormones and they're fed crops grown right on the farm.

The farm allows you to take self-guided tours while enjoying the picturesque views and fresh country air. There's also a quaint country store where you can find fresh produce, baked goods, and delicious hand dipped ice-cream. I highly recommend satisfying your cravings with a chocolate milk shake. You won't be disappointed!

Even though we arrived later then planned, our timing seemed to be perfect. We got there in time to see up and close the milking process and the girls had a chance to bottle feed a calf. That was my highlight of the day (secondly was the milkshake) but, I'm not so sure Holly enjoyed it as much. It seems the calf was still hungry after sucking down his bottle and tried nibbling on Holly's arm. She didn't seem to mind too much and luckily it didn't hurt but her arm was full of slobber when he was finished.

Here are some pictures of our day.

Those photos are sooooo adorable, especially the one of Holly bottle feeding the calf! What a nice field trip to take with the kids!
