Today, I had the pleasure of attending a Mother's Day Tea given by my daughter's Kindergarten class. I was so proud to be there with Gabrielle especially when I walked into the room and saw her face light up when she saw me. I wish I could of had a snapshot for every second I was there because everything they made and everything they did was so darn cute. I really could have used a kleenex...Sniff...Sniff

#6
On April 10th, Matt and I celebrated 6 years of blissful marriage. This year we were able to slip away for an over night stay to St. Michaels, Maryland. G.J (a.k.a. Grandma Jan) stepped up to the plate and helped us out with the kids and Sister-inlaw, Kim along with Payton, helped out with our dogs. Thanks everyone!!
We arrived Friday afternoon to clear, blue skies with temperatures in the 80's. We took advantage of the warm summer like weather and had lunch at St. Michaels Crab & Steak House situated right off the Miles River. After lunch, we browsed the charming little town and admired beautiful and unique art pieces that local artisan's crafted or painted in the stops that lined Talbot street.
That night for dinner, we decided to go back to the Crab and Steak House and order a dozen of steamed crabs. Some of the locals told us that the best crabs in Maryland come from the Miles River so we couldn't pass up the temptation.
After dinner, we went back to our room and enjoyed spectacular views of the Miles River from our balcony. We couldn't believe we were sitting outside in shorts and tee-shirts. It sure did make you crave summertime.
Even though our stay was short, our visit was very relaxing and enjoyable. Below are a few pictures from our mini vacation.

The Art of Photography
I had the opportunity to take a photography class at Longwood Gardens and I'm SO excited about all of the cool things I learned. The workshop was designed to teach beginners about the different setting modes and tips on how to get great floral shots. Our teacher, Tracey from Nine Acres Designs did a great job explaining and demonstrating the art of basic photography.
Here are a few sample pictures:
Here are a few sample pictures:
Using a low aperture setting, I was able to focus on the orchids and blur the background
Using a low shutter speed, I was able to make the waterfall look silky and smooth
For just learning and really understanding the capabilities of my camera, I think I did a good job. They're no where close to perfection but in time and with lots of practice, hopefully I'll get there.
